Newport Flavours' Xylitol is a pure sweetener made from Birch Bark. Xylitol is a “non-fermentable” sugar alcohol and is used as a naturally occurring sugar substitute extracted from the fibers of a variety of fruits and vegetables.
Unlike many other sweeteners Xylitol has no aftertaste. Occasionally people may notice a “cooling effect” on their tongue when tasting Xylitol. This is due to your saliva interacting with the Xylitol on your tongue.
Newport Flavours' Xylitol has many benefits, other than being a great sweetener. Numerous studies have show that Xylitol actually helps prevent tooth decay. Xylitol actively prevents cavity causing bacteria from creating acids that eat away at your teeth, whereas sugar feeds the bacteria so that it creates even more of these destructive acids.
